The Poker.org Summer Weekend Series has come to an end, with "y2icon" capturing the individual leader board win and $500. "y2icon"'s team "Icons" also won the team competition and will share $1,000.
Poker.org's Summer Weekend Series has come to an end, continuing all former trends with rising participants numbers and an overall high level of tournament poker.
The Series had $10,900 up for grabs, and saw an average of around 70 players take part in each of the 25 events on
Lock Poker, spread across roughly 20 teams per tournament.
Doing well throughout the Summer Series was a number of Poker.org regulars, but in the end no one could touch veteran member "y2icon" of the "Icons" team, who ended up snatching the individual leader board title and a $500 first prize with a total of 803 points.
"y2icon"'s run to the title was threatened only momentarily by another well-known member in the Poker.org community, Romanian player "Tzest0s" of the "MAMUKU TEAM", who took second place and a $300 cash prize.
The battle for third place, in turn, would be a true cliffhanger, with "MrPokerVerse" from "Out For Blood Too" taking over "MAMUKU"'s "PokerChildKpo"'s third place in the very last event.
"MrPokerVerse" finished 11th in the $1,000 Grand Final, enough to squeeze by "PokerChildKpo", and end the Series in third with 614 points, a mere four points more than "PokerChildKpo"'s 610.
The team competition also saw "y2icon" triumph with his "Icons" team, which ended on top of the leader board with 644 points to share the $1,000 first prize.
"Icons", comprising only the two players "y2icon" and "samurailsm", was followed in second place for a $500 runner-up prize by the always prolific "MAMUKU TEAM", consisting of individual leader board runner-up "Tzest0s", "PokerChildKpo" and "mamuku".
Third place on the team leader board went to "Out For Blood Too" and "MrPokerVerse", "PrincessAmi", "quadd2001", "mrllnca", "tomNamashivaya" and "ImthexCat", who will get to share a $200 cash prize.
Finally, the Summer Weekend Series also saw runner-up "Tzest0s" break through to the
Hall of Fame, making a full 15 final tables so far in his Poker.org career.
Similarly, Summer Series champion "y2icon" now also holds the record for most individual event wins, ticking in at four, one ahead of number two "MichFran" of "TORONTO BERHOUET ACES" with three.
Poker.org would like to thank all players and teams for competing in the Summer Series, and look forward to inviting all
Poker Club members to the upcoming Fall Weekend Series, which will begin soon.
Once again congratulations to all the winners.
