The PokerStars.net World Championship of
Online Poker - or simply WCOOP - is promising to be the biggest ever of its kind with the combined guaranteed prize pool set to reach a record breaking $50 million.
The 9th edition of the WCOOP will launch on September 5th and include as many as 62 individual events. First up will be the $215 6-max NLHE tournament with later variations including the $10,300 High Roller Mixed Game and finally the two-day $5,200 NLHE Main Event with a guaranteed prize pool of $10 million.
Like always, a number of PokerStars' own pros will find their seats in the battle for bracelets and cash and among these is of course
Daniel Negreanu who doesn't hesitate to call the WCOOP the biggest of its kind.
"Players from all over the world are adapting their calendars after the WCOOP. It is the biggest online series of its kind, and I can't wait to get going".
Another PokerStars-pro, Gran Hewad, is also eager to get his piece of the action, calling the WCOOP a chance for him to settle his name among the biggest.
"As time passes people ask themselves who they are in the poker world and what they want out of their lives. Well, I can tell you that what I want is triumph in the WCOOP" Hewad said.
Last year saw 43,973 players from all over the world participate in the 2009 WCOOP with 'JovialGent' aka. Yevgeniy Timoshenko bagging the Main Event bracelet and the $1,715,200 cash prize."
