Poker.org's Winter Weekend Series came to a conclusion last week, with "allin" from China winning the individual players' overall leader board. Team "PokerGods" won the team competition.
The Winter Weekend Series found a happy winner last week, as China's "allin" ended the series on top of the leader board with 272 points.
As a result of poor conduct in the Poker.org forum, all Chinese players were originally banned from participating in the site's activities, including the Winter Weekend Series, but as "allin" had accumulated his points before that decision was made, he was allowed to keep his position on the series' leader board.
Runner-up was "19frank85" of the "A-Team" with 254 points, while "complex1" of "KNIGHTS" ended in third place with 244 points.
"19frank85" secured his second place finish as late as in last Saturday's postponed $2,000 series final on
PowerPoker, where he finished in second position to boost his points just as the series closed.
A total of 59 players, spread over nine different teams had found their way to the $2,000 winter final, making it the fourth biggest event on the Winter Weekend Series schedule.
The biggest event was played on Saturday December 28th, where 78 players from 10 different teams joined in to compete for a $500 prize pool on PowerPoker.
In addition to the prize money accumulated throughout the series, "19frank85" bagged $500 for his runner-up place on the individual players leader board (instead of "allin" due to the China ban), followed by "complex1" who gets $300 and "MichFran" who earned himself $100.
Winning the Team Competition, "PokerGods" members "Akker", "drotosd", "elektriker", "Duvy", "mikeforester", "Norby20", "asdb4Lu" and "AdE3" will also be sharing a $1,000 first prize, whereas the members of "KNIGHTS" and "Rulleklubben" will share $500 and $200 for ending the team competition in second and third place, respectively.
The series' single most prolific player was "pokertinus77" from the Netherlands, who as the only one managed to take the victory in two individual events.
Poker.org will continue the members-only tournament series with the Spring Weekend Series, as already announced in the
League Section.
The Spring Series kicked off with a $300
freeroll on Sunday February 13th on Ultimate Bet.
A total of 23 tournaments will be held all the way through spring with more than $10,000 worth of prizes, leading up to the series' $1,000 grand finale in May.
As it was the case with the Winter Series, the Spring edition will have prizes for both best individual player and best team, with points being awarded already from the series' first event.
Remember to register on both Poker.org and the respective
poker sites in order to play in the scheduled events, and if you are looking for a team, please feel free to browse around the
forum for teams looking for players.
Once again congratulations to the winners of the Winter Series, and good luck to everyone as we continue to battle for points, cash and glory all the way through spring!
