Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom last night faced off in what could be the last big session of the year. Blom came out on top with a $500,000 profit, sending him into a $1.5 million plus for the year.
The
high stakes PLO games on
PokerStars last night witnessed a true heavyweight run-in between two of the game's biggest stars.
Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom have been among the most active players of all this year, and last night the two superstars turned their attention to each other in a lengthy game of $50/$100 heads-up PLO.
According to
Highstakesdb.com, the two played a little more than 1,000 hands across roughly two hours, resulting in a massive $492,571 win for Blom.
The session among other things saw Blom rake in a $107,770 pot, in a hand where both players made two pair on a

flop.
Sahamies, playing as "Ilari FIN", was keen on getting the money to the middle with his

, but unfortunately for the Finn, Blom had made two better pair with his

.
The

turn and the

river didn't improve neither hand, and "Isildur1" could scoop in the biggest pot of the night.
With his latest win, Blom is now closing in on a profit for 2011 worth $1.5 million. Not a bad result for the young Swede's first year as a Team PokerStars pro, and even more impressing when considering that $1 million has been won within the past three weeks alone.
Sahamies, in turn, dropped to profits of around $2.1 million for the year, which is nonetheless still enough for a second place spot on the all-year winners list, trailing only
Gus Hansen at $3.9 million.
