Just something I noticed ...

Everytime I logged into Poker.org, I would see a couple things. My little photo with a '10 of clubs' and my rewards balance, etc. Now, I've been looking at that god forsaken 10 of clubs for what seems like FOREVER (at least a year) and lo and behold I have graduated!! Yes, I am now looking at the 10 of HEARTS..lol..well, at least it's red and not black.

Oh the things to look forward to.
I had posted this prayer awhile ago and in light of the Winter Series beginning soon, thought it appropriate to remind us to pay the dealer..lol..

Our Dealer,
who art in Heaven
Hold'em is thy game
Thy shuffle done, thy 'all in' come,
Online as it is in Vegas
Give us this day our pocket pairs
and forgive us our bad beats,
as we forgive those who have sucked out against us
Lead us not into made hands,
and deliver us from bluffs
For thine is the flop, the turn, and the river,
Forever.

Amen.

Am I dreaming or have there been a few changes in the last 12 hours I didn't happen to notice regarding the Team/ League games.

I enjoy the commardie of the forum games and look forward to playing when I can. Once the better weather comes along (April till October) I have other 'things' I like to occupy my time with. I play by the house rules, do my posting, participate in discussions when I feel I can contribute, and do my best to help others feel welcome and to help guide them the best I can and sign up for games when I know I'm available to play. I do this because I like this group of people..all walks of life with one common interest.

Then today happens...

First of all, I KNOW I was registered for the game scheduled for Saturday July 14th. Now, I am NOT registered for the game but am registered for the Sunday the July 15th game, which didn't exist until I signed in today (and does not exist on the Carbon schedule). I was also registered for the game last Sunday, which did not occur. And I discovered I was registered for next weekend, which I am not able to play at all (of course, I unregistered). I had been looking through the threads and found nothing so far, regarding all these changes. So, I gave up looking and felt the best way for me to resolve this issue (just for me) was to post a blog.

I set aside my weekends like everyone else who wishes to participate in these games. So right now, I am ANNOYED...and if you could see the look of upset on my face you might think I was more than annoyed. I realize I could resign from this group altogether, but I don't want to stop playing. I better quit typing now, before my fingers runaway on the keyboard and type things they shouldn't.

Just my 4 cents, this time.
Just reporting on the status of Sandy(CasinoCrazys)and Debbie (debbiedoespoker) had left for Alaska to visit Sandy's daughter, on Tuesday. They have arrived safely and I'm sure have a full itinerary. I'm so excited for them and a bit jealous at the same time.. I am hoping they have a ton of pictures taken and plan to share a few with us. (not so sure we will see pictures of them, sadly, they seem to be a little camera shy)

Here's hoping they have a fantastic time!
I'm venting right now....

I just tried for the last 1/2 hour to post and edit a post on the site Poker News. AND it would NOT EDIT!!! How frustrating is that?!?! Not to mention my keyboard is NOW switching my type to Canadian French!!!

I`m going back to bed and starting all over again.

Sigh..ok..done
I'm sure many folks have experienced the loss of a close friend, loved one, or someone you admired. The world, the community, and I have lost a wonderful, vibrant, giving, loving woman this past week. My friend Michelle was one who left us far too early..her work isn't done but for whatever reason she was taken from us.

A lover of all things nature, of kids (she was a very popular high school teacher for 24 years) and the reason we were brought together, her love of horses...well, animals in general. I could list all the wonderful things Michelle represented...one thing I do know, she lived life to the very fullest. Each day was an adventure, even with her little practical jokes (which REALLY brought us together) and never ran out of things to do. I swear she was never idle long. If she wasn't doing it, she was thinking it and everything for the betterment of the people around her.

The list of all her accomplishments and her desires yet to be accomplished would be long. I'm sure she had her faults, but you know something? I never saw any one of them, in all the years I have known her. Everyone who crossed her path was greeted without judgement, that big genuine smile and always a kind word for anyone...just to make them feel special, even if only for a moment. We could all take a page from her life and learn so much from that snippet. Of course, just as most could boast of all the wonderful 'things' friends represent, I could go on for pages, but I just needed a place to write something, have some of my thoughts published. I am very certain, the world is a far better place, before and after Michelle.

R.I.P. my dear friend.
About a month ago, I posted a thread to find out if anyone within the forum was interested in a 'live meet/game/tournament' kinda thing. I should have known better than to post my inquiry in a 'thread' given it closes kinda early and gets lost in the mess of new threads. So, I'm reposting the same 'thread' in a blog, to keep the interest alive or at least open in the forum.

Since the original posting, I have spoken with many people and have been in contact with a few of the casinos in Las Vegas. I don't have anything to report as of yet, given I had asked for rates way too far in advance, from what I understand. (for a group this size at least)

So, another idea had been posted...maybe we could get a mini meet arranged, a little closer to home for me at least. Between Ontario, Canada and New York and Michigan, I think we could come up with something during the summer of 2012, if any of you folks are interested. So, what are the thoughts on this idea??

Below is a copy of the original thread.

There has been some discussion between a few of us, wondering if anyone, would be interested in a live poker tournament or just to meet in Las Vegas. If enough people would be interested, there could be a reduction in room rates and possibly some perks. I was looking for rates at a couple of the casinos, possibly for March 2013. The one key piece of information I need to provide, how many rooms to book. What do you all think?
In light of the great finishes the ladies have been posting during the Spring Series I wondered how many would know much on the popular ladies of the pro poker world. I posted this on another forum with a good response. Have a little fun, test your knowledge of the Women in Poker.

You may have to copy and paste..the link doesn't appear to be working properly. (sigh)

I have to wonder if there is such a thing as 'online ettiquette' while playing in our League games.Should extremely slow play be tolerated? Not a new topic, at all.

I wouldn't begin to know what or how anyone would be able to monitor players for continually holding up play. This is not live table play, where you have 20 or 30 minute blinds and delays of the game are totally expected. I realize many of us play multiple games at the same time, have computer issues from time to time or may even be chatting with others online... but it seems there are members who feel, it is not required of them to keep up with the flow of the play.

I find this to be extremely inconsiderate and rude..As in good Canadian fashion am usually too polite to say anything. (get a couple of cocktails in me, that might be a different story...maybe i oughta start drinking before the games!)

Just venting as nice as I can...
Ok, so on day 2 in Las Vegas, I discover Video Poker is just not working for me. I figured if I was going to lose money to the casino, I should find something at least entertaining.

On my way through the casino I noticed a penny game, which was interactive. So, I sat down in one of the four chairs and tried to understand how the game worked. I had watched one woman playing earlier, and it just seemed pretty much like any other slot machine and besides just how difficult can the slot machines be. The theme of this game was the Wizard of Oz...cute huh? Prior to sitting down, I let Debbie and Sandy know where I was...well within hearing range, in case either one of them hit their 4 Aces with the kicker, and just never know when one of them may hit the elusive Royal Flush.

I put my money into the machine (more like, gave my money up) and hit the 50 credits button. Within seconds, there were sounds going off like I was in some kind of movie, my chair was vibrating and music playing in my ears (speakers in the headrest of the chair) and a big ol' message flashing on the screen to 'LOOK UP'. And there she was in all her glory..Glenda the Good Witch, waving her wand announcing her presence, a bonus round. Woo Hoo! And somehow this was generated from my machine. Who knew? As the wheels were spinning and the music building, I discovered that anyone sitting in one of the 4 chairs would have benefited from the bonus and as luck would have it (given slots are purely luck) I was the only one playing, so I received the bonus...my pretties!! I was up about $60.00 and felt it was time to share this little gem of a game to my friends.

Debbie joined me for a few minutes and popped in a few dollars to see what all the noise was about. Sadly, Glenda the Good Witch, did not pay us a visit during Debbie's stay, so back to the video poker she went. A few minutes later, Sandy joined me, and by this time all 4 chairs were filled. Glenda made an appearance a few times and made us a few more dollars. Each time the good little witch appeared, we started to cheer..lol..I'm glad my kids weren't there, I KNOW they would be totally embarrassed (not that they could possibly stop me from behaving less than half my age or more..lol) The wicked witch of the west was no slouch either, we actually profited more when she appeared, which was very rare. During our visit to Oz, we could hear Debbie hootin' and hollerin', "4 aces with the kicker!" not far from where we were seated...up another $1000. And that wasn't the only time it happened, either!

I was up a bit(thanks so very much to Glenda the good witch), so I walked away, in search of any other slot machines that peaked my interest. Seems the game Battleship(a penny slot) had an interactive game, as well. Bombs firing, chair vibrating, some of the lingo that might be used on a Battleship ( I have no idea, really, just sounded good) And again, if one wins something, everyone seated in any one of the 4 chairs would benefit. Once again, I slipped my money into the machine and hit 50 credits and lo and behold, it happened again. Sirens going off, bombs blasting, the machine going crazy! kinda scary when you wouldn't know to expect it, and more credits won! cashed it in and went back to find Debbie and Sandy.

Thinking that my luck may have changed, I attempted the video poker machines, once again. By this time, my husband decided he wanted part of the action (not a gambler) and tried his hand at video poker, with my winnings!! Seemed whenever I was up in dollars, he would kindly 'borrow' my winnings and contribute to the casino, again and again...sigh

It's amazing how time passes so quickly, when we are having fun! I had to get ready for the Cirque de Soliel show, since we had tickets. I was getting my bearings with the layout of the casino, so I knew where to find the Wizard of Oz and Battleship. All in all, a pretty good day..afterall, how could it not be? This was Las Vegas baby!

Should be a part 3...not sure how much type I can fit into these little boxes..
