Took some time off (4days) and it paid off

Was on a crappy downswing of 120$ on carbon past week or so. I was feeling burnt out i didnt even cash in a single tourny for a week+, and i play about 40 per week. So i decided to just eff poker from friday-monday. Went out and partied with friends all weekend, took a little road trip with a friend and got muy drunko. Then i came back tuesday (today) got on the computer and just had the urge to play, like when you havent played for a while and you just realllly wana play some dam cards. So i registered for just 1 tournament, 5$ plo h/l tourny. I really felt motivated and focused like i use to be when i was winning. I ended up gettin 3rd out of 130 or so ppl for 75$. Doesnt quite make up what i lost but its a good start and i feel more deep runs coming. I just have to learn to take some days off, but poker is a hell of a drug.

Wow considering you play 40 tournaments a week, thats like almost 5 to 6 tournaments a day, that is a fairly cool grind you are making. Sorry to hear about your bad run of $120 on carbon, the same happened to me on the cash tables a couple of times there, i stopped playing cash when that happened to me and only play freerolls on most sites now. Good to read about your deep run in the $5 plo tournament where you cashed $75, maybe you should be playing fewer tournaments and putting in more focus and concentration on them to cash more of them. Hope more deep runs are in store for you, just take it one day at a time, ive read about many tournament players who are just break even players and some losing, some winning, give it your best shot, good luck with them.

Sometimes a break can do wonder for your game. When I am running bad, i forget. But after a few games, and that is all it takes for me to know something is wrong, i will just shut my screen, not even log out, but just shut it, maybe even slam it. Take a day, hell, sometimes a week, and then i feel recharged and play some of my better poker and make a good increase in my br. Sounds like you did just what the dr ordered, glad to hear you did.

Good choice brotha, gotta recharge the batteries sometimes. I think I will also be taking some time off after this weekend because i have been getting crushed lately. Maybe it will turn around today, but for the last couple weeks I just cant find a cash. Good luck to you and keep us updated on your status.
