It's a rough ride
The title of this blog really says it all. I am having a pretty rough time at the tables at the moment with variance playing some very nasty tricks on me. It's funny though because the variance I am enduring is probably a faster downswing than the one I had during WCOOP in September. The downswing through September and October destroyed me mentally, yet this one I haven't really noticed until now (idk if this is a good or bad thing). I think it mostly has to do with confidence in my game being a lot higher at the moment, as well as having endured a swing like this recently making me more aware of the nature of the beast that is MTT's.

Unlike the consistency you can attain in your results from grinding husng's, the life of grinding mtt's involves a lot more losing as a whole. It takes a lot of mental strength to have far more losing days than winning days, but I've always felt my mental game is strong so hopefully I can keep it that way.

My volume is also a little down down at the moment because of a bunch of other things I have going on. On the days where I have other obligations I have been trying to get in some husng volume as well. I guess I miss the freedom that husng's always provided me in regards to being able to play whenever I like, and I certainly don't take it for granted anymore. It's working well for me to play husng's on the days where I have other things planned, so I will probably keep doing that. It also allows me to stay in touch with the trends and keep my own game sharp so I can continue to release high quality training content. In saying all of that, I am on the mtt train for the long haul. I still have so much to learn and it is still exciting for me to get up and grind my arse off on my mtt days.

I have picked the first winner of my free coaching competition as well. Congratulations to @sinsihavedone on twitter for his entry -> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooaQoBSD52k ... There were a lot of great entries but I found this one a highly amusing depiction of Australian culture. I will be doing his free leakfinder video to be released on husng.com later this week, and he will also receive an hour of free coaching from my good mate 'OLD TME GIN'. This week's theme is "Australian Wildlife", and I am very much looking forward to seeing what the community comes up with.

That is all for now. Hope you guys are all doing great!

Matt!

Man i completely understand this. I was going on a year of not having any good MTT wins online, it really made me start to doubt myself and my poker game. Finally i won this past week in one of the league freerolls here. Ya i know its just a league game, but still it was a huge relief and i feel alot better now. I dont think i really did anything much different and went on a cashing streak for a change the same day. My guess it was just having the patience to not give up and keep grinding it out. Your absolutely right about the variance of MTTs' its just so wild the huge swings you can get from them

Totally agree mate. Some of the best players in the world have had 6 month downswings... Just gotta stay confident in your game and keep striving to improve and trying your best not to think about results! Cograts on your recent success though!!! Always great to hear!
