mjw006 is a Professional HUSNG'er from Newcastle, Australia. He has been playing poker both live and online for the past 5 years, spreading his time across all the games (Tournies, Cash, and obviously SNG's). He has been playing professionally since January 2009 and has continued to both move up through the stakes, and improve himself as a player consistently.
I managed to finish up last week on a bit of a bang as I briefly mentioned in the previous blog by winning the Ongame $50 Rebuy for $8.5k. It was a nice way to go into a weekend off and allowed me to really just relax over the weekend without much guilt for missing the soft Saturday fields. I don't really ever take 2 days off in a row but I really felt I needed to take some time to just chill.
As the title of this blog suggests, the win on Friday actually sealed up my first triple crown win. A triple crown is something that was developed by the guys at PocketFives.com, and involves winning 3 scheduled tournaments with a prizepool greater than $10k and more than 100 players on 3 different sites within a week. It's a nice little achievement to have and another little notch on my belt as I continue my MTT endeavors.
My Sunday/Monday grind went pretty horrendously, but I ended up managing to win the Pokerstars $109 $40k Guaranteed for $8.6k, which was good for a small winning day. I can't complain having a winning Sunday really, but it always sucks to brick all of the majors. You put a bunch of mental energy into a Sunday session with so much potential on the line and when you get to 6-7 hours in and have bricked all of the majors it can be a bit of a downer. I'm really proud of the fact that I can keep my focus through the hard times in sessions and still play well and win tournaments late in the day.
In regards to all the mental energy you put into Sunday sessions, it is a little more magnified at the moment. Mostly because there is so much going on at Pokerstars with the 10th Anniversary celebrations bringing an influx of players into these big Sunday fields. There really is so much potential through this month to bink a huge one so hopefully I can capitalise on that at some stage!

Yesterday saw a new world record for the largest poker tournament ever held with a massive 200,000 runners putting up a $1 buyin. But the one I am really looking forward to is the $10M guaranteed Sunday Million to be held on the 18th of this month! That would be an amazing time to secure my first real Major tournament win

... I can always dream anyway!
A quick update on other things...
I have recently done my first MTT video and it has been released on dragthebar.com. The video was actually recorded on the day I won the Big55 on Pokerstars and is available for free if you would like to check it out
HERE (http://www.dragthebar.com/poker-videos/4-mtts-in-real-time-on-pokerstars-%28free-video%29/watch/436737e8b133461635588edd14182859). Although I still have a bunch to learn mtt's I am really enjoying the coaching I am doing and making some videos. I am feeling a lot more comfortable about my thought process in mtt's and therefore feel I can really help some people out with their own thought process.
There was also a Feature Article/Interview done by the guys over at PocketFives.com about me, which you can read
HERE (http://www.pocketfives.com/articles/aussie-aussie-aussie-matt-matt-matt-586987/).
I have also been asked to Co-Host a radio program for Quadjacks Poker Radio. I will be doing a one hour show, once a week, in an Australian timeslot for the QJ Radio listeners who miss out on some of the other live daily programs. The other co-host will be James Mitchell, a fellow Australian HUSNG grinder, so it should be a lot of fun. I will provide more details for this in the next blog with a link once we are up and running!
Last but not least, I announced the 3rd week winner to my
Free Leakfinder Giveaway. The winning entry was this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6mmrmHiFVAw) from @darkside110902. This is the last week of my competition and the theme is Australian Landmarks or Locations. I have really appreciated so many people jumping in and getting involved in this and it has resulted in a lot of great entries and a lot of laughs.
That is all for now! Hope you guys are all doing great!
Matt
