Is online poker rigged?
Is online poker rigged?

We might never know the answer, but surely certain situations make you doubt the fairness of the online poker environment.

Entraction, microstakes, €0.02/€0.04, SH table:
Out of the players of the table I only know *STILLNO1*, regular of the limit, playing, like all regulars, many tables, TAG style, with auto topup active, usually a bet, the minbet makes him fold without a strong holding. I played the table for like 15 minutes. I'm a Don Kee here.

Dealer: MasterDiA
Don Kee posts small blind (€0.02)
*STILLNO1* posts big blind (€0.04)

You were dealt [, ]
slAUXls calls (€0.04)
MasterDiA calls (€0.04)

Here I minbet to make the regular fold...
*STILLNO1* calls (€0.04)
slAUXls calls (€0.04)
MasterDiA calls (€0.04)

...but he flat calls and so do two others.
Pot is €0.26, 4 players are in.

Dealing flop [, , ]
I have top pair, and too many players in the game, so I bet the pot...
*STILLNO1* calls (€0.28)
slAUXls folds
MasterDiA folds

Pot is €0.82, 2 players.

Dealing turn []
I'm betting the pot here again, but...
*STILLNO1* raises (€2.20)
it's all-in for me, I call that raise, thinking he wasn't on a pocket pair above my tens, for he would have raised them, so what does he holds? It's not him, it's not his play.
*STILLNO1* pay back (€0.08)

Dealing river []
Don Kee shows two pairs, Tens and Fours
*STILLNO1* shows a full house, Fours full of Fives
*STILLNO1* wins (€4.87 main pot) with a full house, Fours full of Fives
Total rake: €0.25

So he played 45 ??? And he called a raise with those, be it a min raise, hoping to beat what?
And he hits mid pair on the flop, and he calls another raise, beating there 2 unrelated cards or a pair of 3? I would like to know how that hand could be played another way to be won...

Are they rewarding bad play? Are they trying to generate rake like crazy? Are they bending the deals to fit that requirement? I don't know, but sure that thing happened a lot to me there. I have to say, I'm building a bankroll there, out of nothing, so I might be too eager to win, but it disturbs me when I see those happening.

Is it live, or is it Memorex? ok you have to be of a certain age to get that but . . .

yesterday watching Phil Hellmuth win his 13th bracelet, I saw him 3-bet against the Ukranian . . . flop comes A64

bet, Phil calls . . . turn is a 7

bet, Phill calls . . . . river is a 3

bet, Phil raises . . . . Ukranian calls and shows his A9

Guess what Phil had?? These guys are playing for over a million dollars, there is no computer, no "rigged" to blame it on, no way you can doubt their skill

Phil turned over 7-3 for runner runner two pair

It's just the nature of the game

Whenever I see the bad beats occur just what seems like way too many times, I just remind myself that there are percentages in poker, and "x" amount of times the underdog is going to win. In KK vs. AA, the K's are going to win 1/5 times. In 77 vs. QQ with a 7 coming on the turn, a Q will 1/20 times on the river. While sometimes the odds seem impossible, unless you're drawing dead, there's always a chance that you'll win or lose.

Over the past few weeks I've wondered this myself. I think it's due to the massive amount of suckouts I've been victim over this period of time though.

Always when donks calls the soft help them , it seems it is a soft who helps donks and fishs in many hands ... we cant do anything to change this, we can only hope that is the last time when we are destroyed by soft

So if the the software rewards donks for fishing are you dumb enough not to get your fishing pole out????????????????????? In life you adapt or adjust to your environment to survive. So learn to play the software and dont be an idiot. Or just quit. Happens all the time, nothing new. Last night I lose with pocket 66 hitting the trip on flop and guy with A 4 off who went all in against me hits straight on river. He did go all in before the flop. I do take notes of these people So beware. Calling gives info and I keep note. Durrrr Most of us play for a few bucks.. Get over it. Not directed at you muck but this question is getting OLD! No more secrets after this. I will let people learn the hard way and suffer.

I'm saying to myself: get back there (at the tables), there's the place you made the bankroll you're playing with, thru the same software and poker room. I was on the other side, dealing bad beats, too, calling thin just to see I was dominated, then ending a winner by the river.
...and no offense taken TakingOver, 'cause the topic wasn't really about the online poker, but about the piece of insanity in the play of the opponent, that payed off, more a bad beat blog entry.

I dont think online poker is rigged. When you play vrs bad players they are going to make bad plays and suck out. In the long run you will win as long as you keep making the right plays.
