Mike Caro is, was and always will be a forefather for writing about profitable poker strategy. Everybody else that covers the topics he has written about either reference him or rephrase his words. Most of the modern day math about poker HE created! I first read about 5 card in Brunson's Super System course in Power Poker. The sections covering 5 card may be a touch more in depth in the first 2 editions. Great math tables. Great Idea's and overall logic and approach for reading opponents also. I would recommend reading anything Mike Caro has to say. Both of these guy's played when poker was gaining popularity but both have continued to play write and teach about poker. I'm pretty sure they are still at it too so I'm sure they are up to speed with poker trends and popular games.
Personally, I enjoyed how they both shoot from an ABC foundation and how to play outside of normal ABC approaches 'switching gears' when to take chances in tourney's etc.... I would recommend them to about anybody for ANY style of poker. I just know BOTH have played a ton of 5 card.
