A casual tournament poker player
from Missouri, Dennis Phillips found himself at the 2008 World Series of Poker Main Event in a seat that he had won at Harrah's St. Louis Casino and Hotel in a $200 satellite. Busting out of the final table in third place to Peter Eastgate, Dennis Phillips won over $4.5M, and the attention of poker junkies worldwide.
In 2009, Phillips cashed in the WSOP twice more, including a 45th placement in the Main Event, and just over $180K in combined winnings. The following year, Dennis Phillips participated in the NBC National Heads Up Championship, where he came in a respectable 4th place to Scotty Nguyen (3rd), Erik Seidel (2nd) and Annie Duke (1st).
