Moving around with his family between Texas, California and Nevada as a child, Todd Brunson did not incur the "poker at the kitchen table" education one might assume for the progeny of one of the most famous and respected
high stakes poker players of all time. Far from it, Todd Brunson's first poker experience came on a trip to a
poker tournament in Australia with his father after Todd had graduated from high
school.
While attending college at Texas Tech in Lubbock, Todd Brunson began playing poker regularly. There he developed his poker skills independently, evolving into a strong competitor. Prior to what would have been Todd Brunson's senior year, his success playing cards convinced him to pursue poker professionally, rather than a degree and career in law.
Gravitating to the excitement and profitability of high stakes cash games, Todd Brunson began making regular appearances in the Big Game at the Bellagio alongside The Texas Dolly. Renowned for his mastery of high stakes cash games, Todd Brunson was numbered among the
professional poker players - known collectively as The Corporation - who faced off against Texas billionaire Andy Beal in some of the highest stakes heads up matches that had ever taken place.
As live tournaments rose in popularity with the poker boom, so too did Todd Brunson's interest. In 2005, Todd claimed his first World Series of Poker bracelet in Pot Limit Omaha Hi/Lo. The win made poker history, as Doyle and Todd Brunson were not only the first father and son to both earn WSOP bracelets, but Doyle Brunson's subsequent victory in the 2005 WSOP No Limit Hold'em Short-Handed event also made them the first to gain the coveted award in the same year.
Author of the 7 Card Stud Hi/Lo chapter of Doyle Brunson's Super System 2, Todd Brunson is also a distinguished guest at the
online poker site, DoylesRoom, where he is frequently featured as a target in the site's promotional bounty tournaments.
