35-year-old WPT title holder from California
USA
Tuan Le
Despite having cashed in a mere 21 live poker tournaments between March 2001 and February 2011, Tuan Le has accumulated over $4.5M in tournament winnings in those ten years, primarily from WPT World Championship games. Tuan Le's two WPT titles, and 5 other WPT cashes, brought him to the apex of the WPT money earners list, though he has since been bumped to 3rd (as of March 30, 2011) by Daniel Negreanu (2nd) and Carlos Mortensen (1st).

Born in France, Tuan Le grew up in the US; living first in Kansas City, then moving to Los Angeles by junior high. Tuan majored in finance at California State University at Northbridge, and got his start in poker at the Hustler Casino in L.A., playing the $20/$40 Limit Hold'em tables.

Claiming his first major tournament win and WPT title at the World Poker Finals in 2004, Tuan Le collected over $1.5M and a seat in the $25,000 WPT Championship for his achievement. Tuan took the prize in cash, purchasing a duffel bag in which to transport his winnings back home.

Before boarding the flight home, airport security was shocked by the volume of cash Tuan was transporting, but allowed him on the plane only to be met by the FBI upon landing. Detained for more than hour, the FBI finally verified Tuan Le's tournament winnings with Foxwoods Casino, and sent Tuan on his way.

Five months later, Tuan landed his second title and $2,856,150 at the Five-Star World Poker Classic WPT Season 3 Main Event; outlasting a final table that included Chris Ferguson and Phil Ivey. The victory increased Tuan's tournament earnings to over $4.3M.

With an absurdly loose and aggressive playing style that at first gives his opponents the impression that they are sitting with a complete donk, Tuan Le's keen observation and analysis of his competition often turns the game in Tuan's favor.
