Pokerstars have, for the first time, run three concurrent state-specific editions of their Championship of Online Poker series. The NJCOOP for New Jersey, the MICOOP for Michigan, and the PACOOP for Pennsylvania.

These events are smaller equivalents to the larger and more prestigious world-facing WCOOP and SCOOP.

The three series all achieved coterminous satisfaction yesterday with the crowning of three Main Event winners. Turnout was pretty good for the three series. Given that participants were limited to players who were able to play from inside the borders of the relevant state, the potential pool of players was fairly limited.

Stars were no doubt hoping that the excitement after the WCOOP wrapped and ahead of this year's WSOP might turn the series into serious earners. In the case of the NJCOOP Main Event, the company ended up paying for some overlay on the $100,000 guarantee.

All three events were played in pretty much the same format. All three cost $300 to buy into. The guarantees varied between the three main events, reflecting the relative population of each state and poker's relative popularity.
