After Phil Hellmuth announced he wasn't playing the 2025 Main Event, the people of The Org bounced around whether Hellmuth had a legit complaint about the Main Event being too arduous for older folks.
So, several members of the PokerOrg staff spent some time in Las Vegas and casually polled many Vegas poker insiders about what they think Hellmuth is really up to. The top answers include:
- It's all just a big set-up for some grand late entry entrance spectacle
- Hellmuth is already aware of potential changes to come in WSOP schedule and is trying to take credit for them
- Hellmuth thinks he has enough clout in the industry to move the needle to what he wants
- This is a long-play marketing campaign that ends in Hellmuth promoting some new product in which he has invested that gives him the energy to go the whole way.
Those aren't the only answers we heard, but those are the top.
