The sports media platform continues to branch out into other activity

Barstool Sports continues to reach more areas of the sports gambling market by offering new forms of content. Yesterday, it announced the launch of the Barstool HooliganZ eSports team, which is an extension of its eSports and video game vertical, Barstool Gametime. This organization has over one million followers on TikTok and 74,000 YouTube subscribers. After seeing major success with its recent streamings on Twitch, the famous sports and culture media company is taking a team into Call of Duty, formed by personalities and producers of Barstool.

The media company is also considering adding teams to compete in League of Legends, Valorant and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, which will depend on the level of talent they can acquire. The fact that the company spent nearly three years building Gametime on Twitch, adding eSports teams is a natural next step. Right now, the company is focusing only on employees competing but, of course, they are looking into branching out soon. “Barstool Gametime has been around for years, but now it’s time to take it to the next level. INTRODUCING Barstool HooliganZ. Barstool Sports’ official ESports team,” wrote the newly formed team on its Twitter account.

The addition of eSports content goes well with the company’s latest adventure into gambling and sports betting as a way to diversify its content. Earlier this year, Penn National Gaming Inc., one of the largest casino operators in the US, acquired an equity stake in the company and intends to eventually gain majority control. One of the goals of Penn National is to create and launch Barstool Sports-branded casinos.
