Memphis Grizzlies at Los Angeles Lakers

As painful as it is to lay 25 points on any team, unless you’re just hoping to run good and get lucky, I don’t see how you can oppose the NBA2K version of these Los Angeles Lakers, who so far this SIMS season has beaten the supposedly mighty Clippers by 26 points and demolished the New Orleans Pelicans by 34.

And with them going up against a team that was projected to finish near the bottom of the league when this version of 2K was being put together, sigh clicking the LAL -25 button in your sportsbook account seems like the only sensible play to make.

Because while the Grizzlies were one of the biggest surprises of the pre-COVID NBA season, the video-game version is expected to be much less so after coming in with their highest-ranked player (rookie Ja Morant) carrying a pedestrian 84 rating. In contrast, the Lakers will start Lebron’s 97 rating alongside Anthony Davis’ 96, and should have Danny Green’s performance from the outside be much more reliable than it was in actual real-life.

And with Davis, McGee, and Dwight Howard all clogging up the middle with high blocking ratings, the Lakers should be able to neutralize what was an impressive start to the real season by Jonas Valanciunas and, in theory, roll to an easy W.

That’s all for today, stay safe out there and remember never to bet more than you can afford to lose.
