This will be the sixth year the awards ceremony will have been held

As the 2020 Esports Awards ceremony comes closer, the organization has released the nominees for each of the previously announced categories to give recognition to the talent that is driving the industry to more growth. The list of nominees includes new members and industry veterans from the competitive gaming scene who will all be part of the ceremony’s sixth edition. Since its beginnings in 2015, the Esports Awards has been “dedicated to showcasing top class performance and innovation from, amongst others, the players, teams, media, hardware providers, games, events and personalities within the scene.”

The Esports industry has been growing and has transformed from being just an emerging sector of the entertainment industry to a giant billion-dollar industry with millions of followers around the world. These awards are meant to recognize those who have done a remarkable work helping the development of the industry. The different categories take into account players on the stage but also workers covering all of the action.

Among the main categories for the Esports Awards, the first one is Streamer of the Year with names like “Dr Lupo” and “Summit1G” as nominees. The next category is Esports personality of the year and a couple of the nominees are “Ocelote” and “Sjokz.” There is also the Esports Collegiate Award category, recognizing the development of the eSports industry in educational instances and including nominees like the University of California, Irvine and College Carball. Another category is the Esports Content Creator of the Year for those talented personalities attracting a larger audience to the industry. The last category is Esports Mobile Game of the Year, with names like PUBG Mobile and Free Fire.
