The cancellation of gaming events because of COVID-19 is leading to strengthened industry relationships

While many gambling conference organizers are being forced to switch to online grounds due to the coronavirus pandemic, a couple of conference organizers are partnering up to have a stronger presence in the Asian market. SiGMA Group and Macau Gaming Show (MGS) are directing their focus to improve their presence in the gaming communities in both Manila and Macau. SiGMA and MGS are still planning to host physical conferences, with the Macau Gaming Show set to take place between 17 and 19 November. SiGMA’s event will run its iconic Manila show in May 2021.

Asia remains at the center of the attention for the potential it has for the gaming industry; the continent has a population of 45 billion. “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with the organizers behind Macau Gaming Show. With their reach in Macau and our reach in the Philippines and Europe, this partnership will only strengthen each other’s proposition in more ways than one,” wrote SiGMA in the announcement made on its Twitter account.

SiGMA CEO Eman Pulis also commented on the matter, “Macau Gaming Show is a leading show in Macau, the undisputed heavyweight mecca for land-based gaming.” According to Pulis, Manila is becoming a top destination in Southeast Asia, with its Integrated Resorts. “Since the show in Macau is six months away from ours in Manila, we felt that we could indeed work together and support each other in more ways than one,” added Pulis.

Pulis confirmed that there wasn’t really another option but to cancel this year’s event due to the pandemic, but he stays positive with the fact that the next 11 months will bring an opportunity to curate the event alongside MGS.
