The league is rumored to be discussing plans to play its remaining games at the theme park

The future of this year’s NBA season hasn’t been decided yet, but rumors are starting to get louder regarding a possible location in which the remainder of the season can be played. It’s been over a week since NBA commissioner Adam Silver stated a timeline of two-to-four weeks for a final decision to be announced and, Orlando’s Walt Disney World Resort might be the location chosen by the league to return to basketball action, according to what Shams Charania and Sam Amick of The Athletic reported.

They also indicated that players are scheduled to resume full training in mid-June, which could make it possible that the season could return in mid-July, or at least it has been a “popular possible scenario.” There are some other locations that have been rumored besides Disney World Resort: Las Vegas and, more recently, Houston. But, according to what was reported in The Athletic, “Orlando is on track to win its bid so long as final details regarding testing and hotel use are resolved.”

More details about the plans to run this “bubble” were not disclosed, and certainly the idea of being separated from their families and undergoing intrusive surveillance measures did not thrill the players. “NBA commissioner Adam Silver informed players on a May 8 call that he hopes that the league is able to have daily testing, no stoppage of play if and when a player tests positive and isolating anyone who does test positive in a quarantine. Silver also told the Board of Governors last week that he does not expect a ‘medical bubble’ — but an environment in which people can re-enter and undergo retesting,” said The Athletic report.
