All types of platforms that require verifiable identification are turning to artificial intelligence
There is a lot of artificial intelligence (AI) empowered software out there that is bringing significant contributions to many industries. Due to this, identification services based on AI have been experiencing growth in demand from many more companies. The leading provider of Identity Verification-as-a-Service solutions, IDNow, has reported an increase in transactions processed through its AutoIdent service during the first two quarters of 2020.
The service was launched in 2018 and, since then, it has been growing and expanding in many more industries. This year has seen exponential growth in the volume of processed transactions; from January to June, the number of transactions recorded increased by more than 1000%. The company provides services to a variety of sectors like banking, mobility, cryptographic currency platforms, telecommunications and insurance. Every type of industry has its own interest in implementing identification technologies like creating new business models, digitalize the company, or maximize security; it all comes down to finding more efficient solutions.
AutoIdent uses a smartphone’s camera to detect both the country and type of ID document the person is presenting without needing to hear it from the user. Once the image is captured, the system gathers the readable information and automatically checks the optical security features, such as holograms. Then, the person goes through a biometric video check and “liveness detection.” This is a process that can be completed within just a few steps. In addition, to identify the person, the system can also determine if the identification is valid and with great accuracy. IDNow knows the potential of AI combined with the human capacities that can’t be mimic, so the AI machine is supported by a human identity specialist who provides an additional level of verification in case it is required.
