The biggest online poker tournament in U.S. history begins today

The most ambitious online poker tournament ever hosted by the Winning Poker Network kicks off today. The $8 Million Guaranteed Venom promises at least $1 million to the eventual winner.

Past editions of the Venom drew massive player turnout, pushing the prize pool well past the guarantees. That could very likely happen again for the upcoming edition of The Venom, which plays out Jan. 22 through Feb. 3 on the Winning Poker Network family of online poker sites.

Here’s how you can register and play in the $8 Million Guaranteed Venom:

Download a Winning Poker Network skin

All of the online poker sites operating under the Winning Poker Network banner allow access to the $8 Million Guaranteed Venom.

Americas Cardroom, the flagship WPN site, can be downloaded using  this link. U.S. players can also play on WPN by downloading  Black Chip Poker or  True Poker. All three of these U.S. facing sites share player pools, as well as linking to player pools on WPN international sites like Ya Poker and Poker King.

Once you’ve downloaded one of the WPN platforms, you’ll need to make your first deposit if you don’t already have funds in your player balance. From the main lobby of your selected WPN skin, click on the “Deposit” tab at the bottom right of the screen.

Playing in the $8 Million Guaranteed Venom

The latest edition of The Venom plays as a $2,650 buy-in tournament, with an $8 million guaranteed prize pool and a $1 million guaranteed first-place prize.

The tournament runs four different Day 1 flights, and the survivors of those four stages come back as a combined player pool, with the opportunity to advance further in the tournament.

Day 1A (Friday, Jan. 22), Day 1B (Sunday, Jan. 24), Day 1C (Friday, January 29), and Day 1D (Sunday, Jan. 31) all play as unlimited re-entry flights.

All four Day 1 flights begin at 1 pm EST, with late registration available through the end of level 18. Each level is 20 minutes, and all Day 1 flights wrap up after 28 levels of play.

Players who survive any of the Day 1 flights advance to Day 2, scheduled for Monday, Feb. 1. That leads to Day 3 on Tuesday, Feb. 2, with the tournament playing down to the final table.

The final nine then come back and play to a winner on Wednesday, Feb. 3.

Players can re-enter as many times as they like until the end of late registration for each Day 1 flight. Those that play through and survive multiple Day 1 flights advance to Day 2 with their biggest Day 1 stack.

WPN offers hundreds of seats to the Venom through satellite qualifiers. These tournaments start with buy-ins as low as $0.10 for the Venom Steps satellites.
