International Women's Day celebration continues with Sunday events at PokerStars and WPT

The 2022 International Women's Day (IWD) celebration continues to march on well past the official IWD celebration day on Tuesday, March 8. Both PokerStars and the World Poker waited until Tuesday to announce that they would also be celebrating the day with special events that are scheduled for Sunday, March 13.

PokerStars' and the WPT's decisions to move their primary IWD festivities to Sunday allows a greater number of women to participate in the events, given that Sunday's are usually the busiest days of any week's online poker action. Here are the details on each site's Sunday IWD events.

PokerStars weekly Women's Sunday event offers over € 1,500 in added prizes

PokerStars runs a $22-buyin ladies-only event every Sunday, starting at 13:40 ET on the global dot-com site. This week, PokerStars will be adding bonus prizes for the tourney's top finishers. worth more than 11,500 in total. Here's what's being added:

  • 1st - EPT Monte Carlo Main Event package (€8,500 - Buy-in €5,300, hotel €2,625, expenses €575)
  • 2nd - FPS Package (€2,800 - Buy-in €1,100, hotel €1,360, expenses €340)
  • 3rd / 4th - €55 live event qualifier ticket
  • 5th – 20th - €5.50 live event qualifier ticket

Stars brand ambassador GJ Reggie will play and stream the event as well, all while having a bounty on her. Whoever knocks her out wins a $215 ticket to the Sunday Million 16th Anniversary event. That special Sunday Million runs on March 20th with a $10 million guaranteed prize pool.

Rewarding and giving opportunities to our communities is something we’re passionate about, and this is just one moment in which we plan to do so, with plenty more to come.”

WPT hosts Women in Poker bounty tourney on ClubWPT.com

Over at the World Poker Tour, the WPT will offer a special bounty event on Sunday on its ClubWPT.com subscription-based site. That event begins at 6 pm ET and will award over $9,000 in cash prizes and WPT Prime Passports. A $1,000 WPT Prime Passport will go to the event's winner.

The WPT is also honoring four women's poker organizations this week for their ongoing work in bringing women into the game. Those groups are the Ladies International Poker Series (LIPS), Poker League of Nations (PLoN), Poker Power, and the Women’s Poker Association (WPA).

Each of these four women's groups will also be designating a special participant in tomorrow's women's event. Each of those players will be a bounty as well, carrying a $1,000 WPT Prime Passport to be awarded to the players who bust each designated representative from the event.
