Tuesday, April 8, is International Women’s Day (IWD), and Americas Cardroom (ACR) will be part of the day’s celebration. At 6:00 pm ET, a special $20,000 guaranteed International Women’s Day tournament will begin.

The special International Women’s Day event features a $55 buy-in, two hours of late registration, and bounties on three ACR female pros — Ebony Kenney, Katie Lindsay, Ana Marquez — plus another bounty on the event’s special guest, actress and model Shanna Moakler. Moakler, a former Miss New York USA and first runner-up Miss USA in 1995, has also starred on the reality TV show “Meet the Barkers”. She is a frequent poker player and a veteran, from her years in Hollywood, of Los Angeles’s charity-poker scene.

ACR’s blog posting on the special event also includes insight from the event’s four bounty targets on how they each got into poker. Lindsay, for example, played plenty of card games, but never poker, until she saw Chris Moneymaker win the 2003 WSOP Main Event on ESPN. Now she’s a fellow ACR pro to Moneymaker. Marquez, meanwhile, entered the poker world through a common route, playing in private games while in college.

The bounties on each of the four women are $215 entries into ACR’s weekly Million Dollar Sundays (MDS) tournament, which, as one would assume, offers a $1M prize pool guarantee. And there’s a bonus for all women who enter the event, in the form of an $11 ticket to another tournament of their choice.

Kenney to stream event on Twitch, donations to benefit RAINN

ACR brand ambassador Kenney will be live-streaming the event on her Twitch channel, which already boasts nearly 11,000 subscribers. ACR has also called for all of its female ACR Stormers stream team to join the festivities.

During the event, viewers will also have an opportunity to make donations to RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), which is the United States’ largest anti-sexual violence organization. RAINN created and operates the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE, or online at online.rainn.org / rainn.org/es), partnering with more than 1,000 local sexual assault service providers across the country.

RAINN also operates the DoD Safe Helpline for the U.S. Department of Defense. RAINN also states that it “carries out programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.” RAINN’s programs and services fall into four broad categories: victim services, public education, public policy, and consulting services. The organization boasts numerous corporate partnerships, and in its 27 years of service, states that it’s helped 3.3 million victims and their loved ones in the aftermath of sexual violence and abuse.
