Marquette King brags about being a better athlete than any rugby player
During the past three months, in which there has been zero to just a little sports action across the world, sports fans have been exploring other grounds to get the needed dosage of sports. For instance, rugby has been getting more attention from other countries since it has been one of the sports currently running, and one NFL player made some comments about this sport that resulted in a fierce backlash from readers. Marquette King, who previously played for the Oakland Raiders and the Denver Broncos, has been following the sport and made some remarks that weren’t received very well by the rugby community. He now has a chance to prove himself after receiving several invitations to play in some games and practices.
King, who is currently a free agent, gave a bold prediction of his athleticism by saying on Twitter, “If I played rugby, I would dominate it easily.” Of course, the responses started arriving shortly after, starting with the All Blacks account, which has welcomed King to join the team in one of the training sessions anytime. “Would love to see it brother,” wrote Jerome Kaino. Even South African forward Petrus du Plessis exposed how tough rugby can get by sharing a picture of a serious injury he had right below his left eye.
On top of that, Fiji’s general manager of high performance has invited King to practice with some of the team’s best and toughest players like Rugby League winger Semi Radradra. “I love the confidence. If you wish I could organise a little 10m gauntlet drill with Radradra, Tuisova, Yato, Nakarara and Mata as an introduction? I can even format the drill to suit, 15 seconds on, 15 minutes off,” said Simon Raiwalui.
Even rugby players from England had something to say to the outspoken King. Mostly, he received invitations to play for multiple teams, including the Seattle Seawolves rugby team. It seems like now King will need to keep up with what he said, and demonstrate what he said he can do.
