The NFL has been criticized for a number of things over the last few years. There was the whole controversy about whether players should be allowed to kneel during the national anthem. It seems like quarterback Colin Kaepernick is still being blackballed over that situation.
Commissioner Roger Goodell has also been accused of going overboard on player discipline (see the Tom Brady ‘deflategate’ controversy), while other times going surprisingly soft.
However, even the NFL’s biggest critics have to admit that they’ve done a good job this offseason during the Covid-19 crisis. It starts with the recent NFL Draft that basically went off without a hitch even though it was held virtually.
Many viewers even said that they preferred the draft done this way because you could see players and coaches in the real-life atmosphere of their homes, surrounded by their children etc. Even coach Bill Belichick’s dog “Nike” became famous after a cameo appearance.
The most recent news coming from NFL Headquarters is that their regular season schedule will be released tomorrow (Thursday) night. The release gives hope to sports fans that this season will be able to be played as normal. Of course, the league does have contingency plans for a number of different scenarios.
