Although it will still take a lot of time for a full recovery from COVID-19, at least things are starting to get better

The outbreak of the coronavirus has created havoc across the world, and virtually all operating poker rooms shut down temporarily to stop the virus from spreading. Poker rooms have been closed for nearly two months, since mid-March, and it finally seems they will be able to reopen. In Saint Petersburg, Florida, the Derby Lane Poker Room has already announced its plans to reopen on May 11. Similar announcements have been made from famous poker rooms in Europe, like the King's Resort properties.

Derby Lane announced in a press release yesterday new procedures to be implemented once the racetrack is open. The operation hours are between 10 AM local time to 10 PM. It has 52 poker tables; however, the poker room will operate at a 25% capacity initially. This means that only 13 tables will be available with six seats set per table. Each seat is going to be outfitted with a plexiglass barrier and social distancing markings on the floor. In addition to those general dispositions, all employees, patrons, guests and even vendors will get their temperatures checked to be allowed inside the facility. In the same facility there is also a greyhound racing track, which is resuming operations a few days early, as well. Friday, May 8 comes with a 15-race performance starting at 12:30 PM local time.

May 11 will also see poker rooms opening in Europe. The King’s Resort properties announced its official launch at 3 PM local time. This first phase of the reopening will start with three properties. The three locations are the King’s Resort Rozvadov, King’s Casino Prague and the Admiral Casino Rozvadov. "Highest hygiene standards will be implemented, such as hand sanitizers for the guests and frequent disinfection of all areas," said the resort on its Facebook page.
