The long-time high-roller makes it rain with his $2,100 buy-in
This is the summer for online poker tournaments, and currently, the PokerStars Stadium Series continues to award great cash prizes to the top finishers. This series welcomes players from all corners of the world who gathered online to play the latest event, the Stadium Series Heat 16-H: $2,100 NLHE event with a guarantee of $500,000.
This type of tournament tends to attract renowned poker players, and this one was no exception. Several pro players were fighting for the title, but pro player Lex Veldhuis was ultimately crowned the winner..
Players like Antoine “A.Saout” Saout, Joao “IneedMassari” Simao, Anatoly “NL_Profit” Filatov, and Dominik “Bounatirou” Nitsche are among those who had a good run and finished among the top 31 places that were paid in this event. Other players who cashed were Sam “Str8$$$Homey” Greenwood and Christian “eisenhower1” Jeppsson, as well as Joao “Naza114” Vieira, who busted on the bubble in tenth place.
The final table was full of talent, with Andrew “stato_1” Hulme leaving first with the first five-figure prize of the tournament. MiracleQ from Russia followed next and collected $13,869; seventh place then went to former EPT Malta champion Aliaksei “ale6ka” Boika. Sixth place and the $24,115 prize went to Pablo “pabritz” Brito Silva, as one more shark left the table.
Veldhuis’ run came with a lot of good luck as he tripled aces against "Bomber&Granater" and the queens of Mike “SirWatts” Watson, so he was ready for the final battle for the title.
That heads-up had Veldhuis facing Watson, who busted after only a few hands to take home $72,911 for second place. Veldhuis’ run gave him $96,143 in tournament winnings.
