The poker pro is now the proud owner of a championship at the WSOP, the WPT and the EPT

Roberto Romanello did more than just win his first World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet this past weekend; he also achieved something only eight other players have been able to accomplish. By winning the 2020 WSOP Online $1,500 No-Limit Hold’em event, this poker pro has earned the Triple Crown, which means that he was won World Poker Tour (WPT), European Poker Tour (EPT) and now WSOP titles.

His first titles came after winning the EPT Prague in 2010 and a WPT event in 2011. He is one of the first professional players to ever complete one of Triple Crown's legs, although it's not like this year has been full of opportunities for other players to try to do the same. Even if, for some people like Earl Burton, a WSOP gold bracelet won online doesn't have the same value, WSOP counts it as an official bracelet.

Romanello has had one of the largest gaps between his second and third titles – a little over nine years have passed since he won the EPT Prague and his 2020 WSOP win. Something similar happened to Harrison Gimbel, who took seven and a half years to get his third title after winning the 2010 EPT; he won his WSOP bracelet in 2017.

Romanello told CalvinAyre.com that his latest win feels very different from when he won his WPT and EPT titles; mainly, because this is a different time in his life, which is understandable after nearly a decade has passed. "The first time I was dedicating every day of my life around poker and giving my all to win a major event. When I won EPT Prague, it meant everything and that’s why I was so emotional," he said.
