The organization is looking at all options for the highly popular poker series of events
With the pause the world is still living amid the coronavirus pandemic, it is already good news if the major live poker event in the world can run at all. After the World Series of Poker (WSOP) decided to officially postpone this year's series, which was supposed to start by the end of March, it also stated that possible changes were coming to the published schedule. If circumstances allow, the event organizers are already looking into the fall season for running the series, although some events might have to be cut out.
The 51st edition of the WSOP, as it was initially scheduled, was supposed to start on May 15 and run through July 15 at the usual Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. It listed a total of 101 WSOP gold bracelets for event winners, but there are some events WSOP organizes during the fall months. This means that, if the series launches and is not completed by then, it will need to be shortened so there is enough time to accommodate the most events. Besides the dates, there are many other things to consider by the officials regarding total duration and forms of poker offer, among many others.
The 2020 WSOP could run for just 12 days, which would not be the first time it has happened. Back in 1976, this same poker event was only held for 12 days; it really didn't create a significant impact since most of the tourneys were no-limit Hold'em and stud. For this matter, the organizers can get an idea of how it would look like by reviewing schedules from previous years, which ran for fewer days.
