Today marks the two-year anniversary of the official death of the misguided sports gambling law

The fact that the U.S. Supreme Court sent a clear message to federal authorities about their wrong control over states’ rights allowing legal sports gambling operations is a reason for celebration among gambling operators. It was two years ago today, on May 14, 2018, when the Professional and Amateur Sports Protection Act of 1992 (PASPA) was revoked, allowing states to reclaim their right to decide whether gambling operations would run within their borders. Amid the coronavirus pandemic and the important event that brought the industry back to life, SBC has put together a virtual gathering, PASPA Repeal, to celebrate the second anniversary of PASPA’s demise.

SBC has more than enough experience running gaming-centered conferences – one of the most recent ones was the SBC Digital Summit, which took place virtually for the first time. The PASPA Repeal celebratory event is a virtual networking event, to give members of the gambling industry the ability to discuss the impact of PASPA’s demise. This event has a goal of giving “operators, suppliers, affiliates, lawmakers, advocates and the media” a chance to “discuss the progress made towards the creation of a thriving market over the last two years and what the next steps for the U.S. sports betting industry might be.”

A few personalities involved in the event are to participate in this short celebration, such as former New Jersey Senator Raymond Lesniak, who was a key force in the repeal of the PASPA act. Also, SportAD CEO Joe Brennan, Jr., who is also the former director of iMEGA and an opponent of PASPA. And to close the event, professional sports gambler and writer Captain Jack Andrews will also give his opinion during the panel. PASPA Repeal kicks off today at 3 PM, Eastern Time.
