The competition will get underway in just a few weeks
Now that the regular season of the Call of Duty League (CDL) has concluded, the organization just released the official bracket for the next level in the current season, the playoffs.
Here, 12 teams are facing each other to be the winners of a share of the $3 million prize pool, but also the 2020 champion title. The playoffs are scheduled to begin August 19, and the news was first confirmed by the last home series broadcast but later made official by the CDL along with the exact playoff seeding.
The teams who have secured first and second seed spots were Atlanta FaZe and Dallas Empire, respectively. Both teams will be part of the third round of winners, which means that they only need one victory to make it to the finals.
Chicago Huntsmen and Florida Mutineers both secured their third and fourth places at the end of the regular season, meaning that they will be part of the second round of winners for the playoffs.
With this distribution of teams, the top teams of the season are given the best chance of winning the entire series, which is dramatically different for the teams sent to the bottom part of the seeding. For instance, Seattle Surge, Optic Gaming, Paris Legion and Los Angeles Guerrillas are all at the bottom of the list, and the difference is that, if they lose their first match, then they will be out in the 11th and 12th place with no prize money whatsoever, so there is a lot more pressure on this side of the bracket.
