One of League of Legends greatest champs is returning to his former team

A seven-time League of Legends Championship Series champion is returning to his former team, according to ESPN sources. Team Liquid is moving Yiliang “Doublelift” Peng to Team SoloMid (TSM), even though Liquid received several offers from other teams in the league. Apparently, it was Doublelift himself who chose TSM over the other options that were chasing his contract rights, and he was involved deeply in the whole process of choosing which team he will go to.

With his decision, Doublelift will play again alongside mid-laner Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg and support Vincent “Biofrost” Wang. The three played together during the great championship runs on SoloMid. Doublelift entering the teams also means that Kasper “Kobbe” Kobberup will need to find a new team to compete – which, at this point, is complicated since the coronavirus pandemic has shortened the mid-season period and American teams don’t have more spots for international players. He joined the team just a bit ago, in November, right after he finished his League of Legends World Championship run with Splyce.

While Doublelift was with Liquid, he collected four domestic championships and a runner-up finish at the 2019 Mid-Season Invitational. However, the team did not start off too well this year. It finished in ninth place in the recent spring split. Doublelift was replaced by Edward “Tactical” Ra while he was recovering from laryngitis. He then said he lacked motivation on the team, even before getting sick, but he promised to be back on the starting team by March. None of that happened, and the team ended the split with their worst results they have ever recorded.
