Latest episode brings in an all-star roundtable

The newest episode of The Orbit brings together a panel of guests and a schedule of topics that will likely yield one of the more entertaining poker programs of 2020.

Episode 4 of the roundtable discussion show hits the public today on the Twitch Poker channel and features the most dynamic lineup seen yet on the show. Host Robbie Strazynski moderates a talk that includes GGPoker Ambassador Daniel Negreanu, partypoker partner Rob Yong, Run It Once Poker founder Phil Galfond, and poker media veteran Alex Scott.

Those four prominent poker figures sit in for a two-hour discussion with Strazynski, the founder of the Cardplayer Lifestyle Poker Blog. Like the first three episodes in the series, the upcoming edition of The Orbit includes a list of topics covering some of the most pertinent issues in the poker industry.

Strazynski posted a teaser for the new episode on Twitter Wednesday, giving the public a taste of what looks to be a spirited discussion about the state of online poker in 2020:

Episode #4 of #TheOrbit is going to be a MUST-WATCH. We assembled a blockbuster panel of @PhilGalfond, @rob_yong_, @AlexScott72o, and @RealKidPoker to address some (fire) poker industry issues. Premieres tomorrow on twitch.tv/poker, Facebook, and YouTube 1pm Eastern.”

State of online poker in 2020 discussed in the new episode

The fourth episode in The Orbit series puts six different topics to the roundtable panel. All six topics make up a larger discussion about the current state and potential future for the online poker industry.

One of those topics poses the idea of “Collaboration in the Poker Industry”, with an ensuing dialogue on whether the current online poker landscape would improve if some of the industry’s biggest operators collaborated with each other.

The Episode 4 panel includes some of the most interesting personalities that could answer that question in the poker industry. The episode teaser offers a clip from Negreanu on his time with PokerStars, the world’s largest online poker operator and a company which employed Negreanu as its lead ambassador from 2007-2019.

“I think we were at a dangerous point, where we were just a complete monopoly,” Negreanu says. “We had one company who’s very, very corporate, making all the decisions and literally having everybody by the cajones. They could do whatever they want.”

Yong, one of the biggest backers of the partypoker brand, follows up with his frank view on the topic.

“I guess we’re talking about GG and Stars here. I guess last man standing wins,” Yong says in the teaser.

Other topics on the menu

The other topics on tap for Episode 4 include “Is online poker at saturation point? “Gamification of poker,” “The purpose of live events,” “Is regulation a barrier?” and “Initiatives to grow the game.”

The latest episode of The Orbit comes out today on the Twitch Poker channel, as well as the Cardplayer Lifestyle YouTube channel and Facebook page. Poker.org is set to publish an in-depth breakdown of Episode 4 this weekend.
