Event #38 of the 2021 WSOP is the $50,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em 8-Handed tournament. This three-day event started on October 19 with a starting stack of 300,000 chips and 60-minute blinds throughout. Players were allowed one re-entry into this high roller event.
The High Roller went to Michael Addamo after an intense three-day battle. The $50k tournament attracted 81 players, creating $3,877,875 in prize pool money. $1,132,968 of that was earmarked for first place.
Addamo took down $1,132,968 for his win, plus his first WSOP bracelet. While a great player, Addamo couldn’t be complacent during heads-up play. His rival, Justin Bonomo, had nearly the same amount of chips and is a serious contender, too. The two pros traded place for the lead a few times before Addamo came away with the win, 24.3 million chips to zero.
Ben Heath won the $50,000 High Roller No-Limit Hold’em event in 2019 to earn the tournament’s top prize of $1,484,085 and a WSOP gold bracelet. The event had 110 entries to create a total prize pool of $5,280,000. Heath was one of only two players at the final table that did not have a WSOP bracelet before his victory.
