Event #52 of the 2021 WSOP is the $1,000 SENIORS No-Limit Hold’em Championship. Players had to be at least age 50 to participate in this closed-field event. Due to its continued growth, this event featured two starting days for the first time in WSOP history. The Day 1A starting flight began at 10 am on Wednesday, October 27. The Day 1B starting flight started at 10 am on Thursday, October 28. Players were allowed to enter either or both starting flights, and were allowed one re-entry per flight.

Robert McMillan of Prescott, Arizona added his name to the list of WSOP gold bracelet winners when he took first place in the World Series of Poker $1,000 Seniors No-Limit Hold’em Championship. McMillan bested a field of 5,404 players in this expanded Seniors event, which spanned more than five full days.

McMillan scored the biggest single payday of his playing career with a $561,060 cash payout for his first place finish. This is the fourth straight “live” WSOP where McMillan cashed in the Seniors event. The player’s 10 career World Series of Poker cashes also include Main Event cashes in 2017 and 2018.

Including McMillan’s other Seniors and Main Event cashes, he had barely topped $100,000 in career WSOP earnings before this most recent win. He has also cashed in several other tournaments, mostly in Las Vegas and at his unofficial home base, at Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona. His career official poker tournament earnings now total over $900,000.

Florida’s Howard Mash is this event’s reigning champion. In 2019, he topped a 5,916-entry field to win an event-record $662,594.
