Two big tournament series continue to play on over the weekend

Another big weekend is in the rearview mirror in what’s turned out to be a huge month of November for poker tournament players around the world.

The Mid States Poker Tour Venetian took center stage in the live poker realm this weekend, as the Las Vegas live tournament advanced to the final day of action. In the online realm, the partypoker 2020 Caribbean Poker Party Online completed the second of two starting flights in its Main Event.

Here’s a look at some of the biggest action that went down through the weekend of Nov. 20-22 in the poker world:

MSPT Venetian $1,600 Main Event plays down to the final day

The second consecutive weekend of MSPT live tournament action at the Venetian progressed through Day 2 Sunday, with 63 players remaining to vie for the championship in the MSPT Venetian $1,600 Main Event.

John Lytle leads the field going into Monday’s final day and will enter Day 3 with a commanding 243 big blind stack. Other big stacks in contention for the championship include Dale Eberle (168 big blinds), Martin Zamani (103 big blinds), James Vales (89 big blinds), and Hesam Alagha (83 big blinds).

All 63 remaining players are in the money and will go home with at least a minimum cash of $5,670. The top four spots in the payout structure guarantee six-figure paydays, with the eventual tournament champion going home with $327,773.

The MSPT Venetian drew 1,239 total entries for the three-day event, capping off several weeks of big live tournament series at the Venetian. The Las Vegas Strip poker room hosted its in-house series, the DeepStack Showdown, throughout September and October.

November marked the return of the long-running collaboration between the MSPT and the Venetian, in the form of the MSPT DeepStack Extravaganza. The $1,100 and $1,600 Main Events that ran over the past two weekends mark the centerpiece tournaments in the DeepStack Extravaganza Series.

The $1,600 Main Event plays down to a champion today at the Las Vegas poker room.

Partypoker Online Caribbean Poker Party completes Day 1B action

The partypoker 2020 Online Caribbean Poker Party completed the second of two Day 1 flights Sunday, with 547 entries registering for Day 1b. Total registration for Event #2: $5,300 Main Event ended up at 1,037 entries, pushing the prize pool to $5,185,000.

Diego Ventura bagged the biggest chip stack (18,748,998) on Day 1B and goes into today’s Day 2 action as the overall tournament chip leader. Ventura’s Day 1B haul narrowly edged out Day 1A chip leader Michael Addamo (18,658,743).

Other big names with big chips from Day 1b include Daniel Colpoys (15,261,296), Anton Wigg (14,536,280), and Mario Mosboeck (14,177,175).

The eventual winner of the Main Event will take home just under $880,000, the biggest prize awarded across the CPP Online festival. Three more days of poker action still need to play out before that winner is determined.

Day 2 plays out today, with the survivors of that flight coming back Tuesday, Nov. 23 for Day 3. That flight plays down to a final table, and those final nine players come back Wednesday, Nov. 24, to play down to a champion.
