WSOP Event #30: MONSTER STACK No-Limit Hold’em (freezeout)

Event #30 of the 2021 WSOP is the $1,500 MONSTER STACK No-Limit Hold’em (Freezeout) tournament. This event was one of the most highly-anticipated tournaments on the schedule, with a 50,000 starting stack, an excellent structure with 60-minute levels, and no re-buys. The tournament had two Day 1’s starting on October 15 and 16. It then ran for four more days from October 17-20.

When the final table started, Ryan Leng held the chip lead. Mike Noori nursed a relatively short stack for most of the day, but he was able to use that short stack to outlast the rest of the field. In the end, he faced Leng for the heads-up showdown.

With over three million in live earnings held by the two contenders, and numerous online accolades, the two poker monsters faced off. Leng started with the chip lead, but Noori came on breathing fire. With a straight over Leng’s two pair, Noori roared into the chip lead. He bagged the tournament’s first place prize when his QQ trounced Leng’s turned flush draw.

Kainalu McCue-Unciano won this event in 2019 to earn his first WSOP gold bracelet and $1,008,850. The 6,035 entrants that played in this event built up a total prize pool of a whopping $8,147,250. The top 906 spots were paid.
