WSOP Event #61: Deepstack Championship No-Limit Hold’em

Event #61 of the 2021 WSOP was the $600 Deepstack Championship No-Limit Hold’em. This event began at 11 am on November 1. The deep-field, $600-entry event was unusual with its Monday kickoff, rather than wrapping the weekend like most other WSOP massive-field offerings. The event allowed one re-buy per player.

Cole Ferraro came away with the bracelet for his 2021 WSOP Deepstack Championship No-Limit Hold’em win. Ferraro bested a field of 3,923 players to win the tournament’s top cash prize of $252,419. The prize pool was $782,100, divvied up between the top 588 finishers.

Ferraro’s win was a big relief to the 22-year-old. He came in second at the 2021 WSOP Event #26: $1,000 Freezeout, so he was excited to score first place this time around.

“After my second-place finish, this time I felt like I was gunning for first,” he told the media. “Maybe even a little harder than last time.”

In the wake of his victory, PokerGO wrote on Twitter: “Congrats to Cole Ferraro. Winner of @WSOP Event 61: $600 Deepstack for $252,491 & his first bracelet!”

Las Vegas’s own Joe Foresman logged a life-changing win in this event in 2019. Foresman, a musician and graphic designer who frequents these deep-field events, topped a massive 6,140-player turnout to claim a $397,903 cash. That payday represents more than 90% of Foresman’s career earnings.
