WSOP Event #68: LITTLE ONE FOR ONE DROP No-Limit Hold’em

Event #68 of the 2021 WSOP is the $1,111 LITTLE ONE FOR ONE DROP No-Limit Hold’em. Players had the option to buy into the event for $1,000 and start with 20,000 in chips, or buy in for the same amount and make a $111 donation to the One Drop Foundation, and start the tourney with 40,000 in chips. This tournament was scheduled to have three opening days from November 8 to 10.

The 2021 WSOP Event #68: LITTLE ONE FOR ONE DROP No-Limit Hold’em has been held to benefit charity by the WSOP each year since 2013. Donations come from players, not from the World Series of Poker, which subtracts its 10% rake from the prize pool. With 3,797 players buying in, that prize pool reached $3,417,300.

Scott Ball took home the bracelet and a first-place cash prize of $396,445

“I’ve really had my sights set on the No-Limit Player of The Year,” Ball said after his win. “I think it’s really hard for any No-Limit player to just play No-Limit events and no mixed events like I do, to try and get as many points as someone in the other events. […] So I’m really glad the WSOP has separated those two things, and I’m pretty sure this will put me into the lead for No-Limit player of the year, and I would really like to hold on to that. It’s a legacy thing.”

Michael Shanahan won $245,068 for second place.

Guy Laliberte is a poker player and the founder of Cirque du Soleil. He is also the man behind the One Drop Foundation, which provides safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene to communities across the world.
