The Shooting Stars for Charity should be a huge success
The World Poker Tour (WPT) has been shaping the structure of its latest online poker series since it was originally announced, just a couple of months ago. The WPT World Online Championships comes as a massive series that was set to run from July through September, bringing over $100 million in guaranteed prize pools. After making some adjustments announced in mid-June, the initial announcement was transformed in 12 WPT-branded events that offer attractive prizes to the winners. Also, due to other adjustments made, the WPT wants to do good and will run a charity event for a good cause.
Included in this series, the WPT introduced its Shooting Stars for Charity event; however, it doesn’t come with an official WPT title. It does include a $500,000 GTD prize and it has bounties on top of the good cause that the charity will help. This No-Limit Hold’em event is scheduled to run July 29-30 and it will be livestreamed on Twitch and social media channels. The organization already confirmed the participation of great talented players ready to knock out the rest for those $500 for each bounty. Ryan Riess, Sam Trickett, Igor Kurganov and Steffen Sontheimer will be playing this charity event, as well as rapper Alejandro Lococo, better known as Papo MC, is one of the celebrity headliners of the tournament.
Just a couple of weeks ago, the WPT revealed that, out of these 12 events, five of them will also produce new Champions Club members. On top of that, the winners of these tournaments will be awarded seats to the WPT Tournament of Champions. Now, the $100 million WPT World Online Championships will begin on July 17 and the last day of competition will take place on September 8. This series has been designed for all players no matter their financial capacity; the events will offer three buy-in levels that come with different guaranteed prizes; therefore, participants can find events with buy-ins for a low as $33.
