Many satellites to televised events
Highly sophisticated software
Boasting one of the largest selections of online poker tournaments and cash games, PokerStars is easily numbered among the most popular internet poker rooms in the world. Licensed and regulated in the Isle of Man, PokerStars was established in the year 2000 with the first wave of online gaming sites to provide services to poker players who wished to compete in real money poker games from the comfort of their own home.

PokerStars is able to maintain a significant flow of player traffic at all hours. For this reason cash games, sit and gos and multi-table tournaments are always available, 24 hours a day. PokerStars also furnishes one of the most comprehensive game selections in the online poker industry. Due primarily to the daily volume of traffic, PokerStars is able to offer more obscure online poker games such as 5 Card Stud, 2-7 Triple Draw and Badugi.

Another aspect that makes PokerStars so appealing to a remarkable percentage of online poker enthusiasts is the opportunity to win seats in major live poker tournaments, and exclusive televised cash games sponsored by PokerStars. Thousands of online poker players qualify in PokerStars' online satellites for free entry to the World Series of Poker Main Event, the European Poker Tour (EPT), the North American Poker Tour (NAPT), the World Cup of Poker (WCP), the Asia Pacific Poker Tour (APPT), Latin American Poker Tour (LAPT), UK and Ireland Poker Tour (UKIPT), and the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure (PCA). Players at PokerStars can also win the opportunity to appear on the PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge, or to compete against the pros as the 'Loose Cannon' in the PokerStars Big Game.

Offering daily freerolls in a wide selection of poker forms, sit and gos starting at $1, cash game stakes ranging from $.01/$.02 on up to the nosebleeds, and play money games available in every variety; PokerStars caters to each type of online poker player, from the absolute first-timer to the most experienced veteran. The PokerStars VIP Club offers rewards for all real money players relative to the frequency of one's play, and the $600 sign-up bonus is one of the most flexible and gratifying welcome bonuses in the poker industry. The PSO Skill League allows players the opportunity to participate, learn, and extend their knowledge of the poker games and relevant strategies.

Safe, secure deposit options make it easy to get started in real money online poker games at PokerStars, with fast payouts when players are ready to withdraw their winnings. A friendly, knowledgeable support team is prepared to offer quick solutions in a number of languages to PokerStars members, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
PokerStars Bonus
Bonus is relatively easy to claim
Exclusive live event qualifiers
Use FFPs to redeem gifts and tickets
Large number of running bonuses
Like most online poker rooms, PokerStars offers a welcome bonus for first-time depositors. However, the PokerStars welcome bonus differs from every other online poker bonus in that one has 90 days to make as many as three qualifying deposits in order to receive the 100% match bonus of up to $600. This allows more flexibility to online poker players who would like to take full advantage of the bonus, but are not prepared to drop the full $600 into their online poker account all at once.

In addition to making it easier to claim a large first deposit bonus, PokerStars also gives players plenty of time to clear their bonus dollars, up to six months for each pending bonus. Once enough VPPs have been earned to clear the first pending bonus, the additional VPPs the player earns will automatically be applied to the next pending bonus amount, until all bonuses have been cleared.

100% up to $600
100% up to $600
Use Marketing Code
vip2012
All first-time depositors are eligible for the 100% bonus match at PokerStars. In order to opt-in to the bonus, simply input the marketing code vip2012 when making that first, initial deposit. If the first deposit is less than $600, PokerStars members can use the same marketing code for up to two more deposits for a 100% match (not to exceed a combined total of $600 in bonus dollars) as long as the additional deposits are made within 90 days of the first deposit.

Once the deposit has been made into the player's real money account using the appropriate marketing code, the player can begin earning the bonus by playing real money cash games and tournaments at PokerStars. Members have 183 days (6 months) after each qualifying deposit to clear the respective bonus from its 'pending' status before it expires. To view the current details of a pending bonus, click on the 'Cashier' button in the PokerStars software, then choose 'Check My Bonus Status.'

All PokerStars bonuses are earned by accumulating VIP Player Points (VPPs) while playing real money online poker games at PokerStars. The number of VPPs required to clear each bonus dollar varies by promotion, however the welcome bonus stipulates 17 VPPs for every bonus dollar.

PokerStars awards VPPs based on tournament entry fees and rake paid in cash games. All PokerStars members automatically earn 5.5 VPPS for each $1 paid in tournament fees. In a $50+$5 tournament, the $50 goes to the prize pool and the "+$5" is the entry fee that goes to the "house." Thus, a player would earn 27.5 VPPs for entering a $50+$5 tournament.

The number of VPPs earned in cash games is dependent upon how many seats are at the table, the number of players in each hand, and the total rake paid at the table. In cash games with eight or more seats (whether occupied or not), 6 VPPs are awarded to the table for every $1 raked from the pot, then divided evenly among the players who were dealt into the hand. Cash tables of seven seats or less (such as short-handed or heads-up tables) are provided 5.5 VPPs per $1 paid in rake, which are split equally among every player dealt into each hand. The VPPs are distributed at the end of each hand, with fractional VPPs rounded to the nearest one-hundredth (0.01).

Once the required number of VPPs have been earned after the initial deposit, PokerStars will move the pending bonus into the player's cash account, where it will be accessible as cash. The bonus is released into the player's cash account in increments of $10 for every 170 VPPs earned. An email confirmation will also be sent to the player to inform them of their new cash balance, and the details of the transaction will be available in the 'History' section of the PokerStars Cashier window.

Example of a PokerStars bonus scenario
After downloading the PokerStars software and creating a user account, a new member decides to deposit $200 into their real money account. The online poker player clicks the 'Cashier' button, then selects 'Buy Chips' to open the deposit window. Following the deposit instructions provided, the players types vip2012 into the marketing code box when prompted.

Upon completion of the deposit process, the player will have $200 in their cash account, and $200 pending in the 'My Bonus Status' area of the Cashier. Every VPP the player earns from this point on, by participating in online poker tournaments and cash games at PokerStars, will count toward the release of bonus dollars into their cash account. The player will require 3400 VPPs to clear the $200 bonus (17 x 200 = 3400).

30 days later, the player decides to deposit another $200 into their account, and claim another $200 of the sign-up bonus by using the marketing code again. The new pending bonus appears separately from any remaining bonus dollars that have not yet been cleared from the first bonus. Once the first bonus is cleared, the VPPs the player earns will automatically be applied to the next bonus amount. The player will have 183 days from the time of the associated deposit to earn the 3400 VPPs needed to clear the second installment of the welcome bonus.

After another 30 days have passed, with the first bonus cleared and the second bonus well underway, the player decides to go ahead and deposit another $200 using the vip2012 marketing code in order to take full advantage of the PokerStars sign-up bonus. The player has now has 153 days to finish clearing the second portion of the welcome bonus, and 183 days from this point to clear the final portion of the bonus, for a grand total of $600 in bonus cash added to his real money PokerStars account - all for playing the real money online poker tournaments and cash games that he intended to play regardless of any bonus earned.

PokerStars VIP Program
Home of pros like Daniel Negreanu
Frequent Player Points awarded
Open to US players
No fixed rakeback rate
PokerStars offers all players a comprehensive VIP program, based on a points system and six different levels of VIP statuses. Each level entitles the player to a new series of exclusive bonuses and rewards, including cash, buy-ins and store credits.

Anyone playing for real money at PokerStars will automatically generate VIP Player Points or VPPs. For the first four levels of the VIP program, the VIP status is calculated on a monthly basis, while the two highest levels can only be achieved by generating a certain amount of VPPs within one calendar year.

The bonuses and rewards differs from level to level. All levels will allow the player to multiply his Frequent Player Points with a fixed amount, as well they release milestone cash rewards. The multiplied Frequent Player Points will allow players to quickly gather credits, which can be swapped for a range of goods in the VIP store, including cash, tournament buy-ins and exclusive merchandise.

The more you play at PokerStars, the bigger the reward will be. As players move up in levels, they will be able to earn cash rewards more quickly, as the Frequent Player Points will be multiplied by increasingly higher numbers. The FPPs can then be swapped for cash, goods or even larger tournament buy-ins, for instance to the WSOP or the European Poker Tour.

There is a such no monthly payment to be collected directly from PokerStars. Instead, players can buy cash credits with the collected FPPs, which in turn are awarded by a rate according the VIP level that player is currently qualified for.
Value
The value of the PokerStars VIP program depends totally on the level you reach and usually ranges from over 10% up to over 80%. The higher levels are however very unlikely to reach for more than a small minority of players.
Stats Updates
There are no stats updates available for the PokerStars VIP program. Instead you can check your progress in the PokerStars software. Normally, the stats are updated on a monthly basis.
Calculation Method
Shared calculation, meaning that any contribution to the pot, whether you fold or not, is counted.
Tournaments
Tournament entry fees are included in the rake.
Payment Day
The points are transfered on a monthly basis. When this is depends on PokerStars, but it will normally happen at the end or the beginning of a month.
Payment Method
Your VIP points are located in your PokerStars cashier window. These points can be spent for rewards via the cashier.
Payment Minimum
There is no payment minimum. All members start at Bronze level and work their way up from that point.

With the smileys, I can do without, but to each their own, some times comlcal, and other times annoying, as some go way overboard with it, oops, thats another site. The addition of the smileys here is a nice touch, and makes it easier for some to give you an atta boy.

I love the new features that PokerStars has added (the BOOM replayer and the Home Games system) to the already good stuff that is there, i.e. customer support, amount of games, "traffic" and customizability. Sometimes you are on a poker site and you are looking for example a good Razz cash game and all the tables are empty....well not at Stars lol...there is always a game there in every poker game available. It would be very cool if real money for US players would return to Stars. The only downside I have with Stars at the moment is the fact that the Home Games system only limits you to ten clubs.

Never really played at Pokerstars until last week and I have to say that Stars is the best. 1- Great software - customizable (you can make SNGs one theme, MTTs another, you can have different themes for individual themes also. + they are ALWAYS updating/improving their software. It's better than FTP's. 2- unbeatable traffic -- you can get a game going at any time of the day 3- best support -- they respond quickly and are extremely knowledgeable. I've yet to see a poker room that has a tech team as competent as these guys. I've actually learnt quite a bit from them and I consider myself very tech-savvy. No surprise that they are the largest room in the world -- they win in every category. Pokerstars will always be the king of online poker. Besides, poker dreams are built here.

I like this site, the flow and functionality of this one is very nice. My only issue is if your a tight player, you stand no chance. I've tested this theory. If you are tight the board doesn't fork for you, but you are playing loose, its like you'll river every time. I'm not the only one who's noticed this. A few people at my old work noticed that too. It's just not my favorite because of that and they are no longer aloud to let USA play for real money.
