Twenty.
It's not a big number if we're talking about points scored by Lebron James in a playoff game or touchdowns in a season for Tom Brady.
But we're not talking about those things. We're talking Benny Glaser and PokerStars' COOP (Championship of Online Poker) series. And in that context, twenty is a big number.
PokerStars runs both a SCOOP (Spring Championship of Online Poker) series and WCOOP (World Championship of Online Poker) series each year. There are hundreds of events across all variants of the game, with millions of dollars in guaranteed prizes. While it is true that there are many titles up for grabs each year, it's still hard as hell to win just one--let alone twenty.
Glaser already held the record for most COOP titles coming into the 2023 WCOOP with eighteen total. Now, just over a week into the series, Glaser has already claimed his nineteenth and twentieth titles.
Glaser followed up his victory in Event 16-M: $109 FL Badugi (6-Max) on September 12th with another win, just days later, in the WCOOP World Championship of 2-7 Triple Draw. As Glaser pointed out, he now holds both the online and live World Championship 2-7 Triple Draw titles (after winning the $10k 2-7 Championship at this year's WSOP).
Along with his two new titles, Glaser finds himself in the upper echelons of the series leaderboards. And, with plenty of events left in the schedule, his record could potentially extend even further.
Consistency through the years
Glaser won his first COOP title back in 2016 and, since then, he's been collecting more at an unmatchable rate. The mixed games-heavy schedule does favor Glaser's poker skill set, but this kind of dominance is reserved for names like the ones this piece opens with. Lebron. Brady. Glaser.
Is it too soon to mark him as one of the greatest of all time in the mixed game arena?
Below, you'll find a complete list of Glaser's PokerStars COOP titles.
