New Jersey, Michigan, and Pennsylvania online poker players will have another significant poker series to enjoy later this month, as BetMGM has announced its State Poker Championship series for each of the three states. Slated to run September 15-25, 2022, the three series each will include 25 distinct events.

Each of the three series will offer over $750,000 in prize-pool guarantees over their 11-day runs. Topping the list of guaranteed events in New Jersey are a $100,000-guaranteed NLH 8-Max event on Sunday, September 18 with a $2,500 buy-in, and the series’ main event, the $250,000-guarantee NHL Championship, with a $1,000 buy-in, that begins on Sunday, September 25. In Michigan, the matching events will carry guarantees of $75,000 and $200,000, and in Pennsylvania, the same events offer $50,000 and $150,000 guarantees.

Many of the events being offered include “Phase 1” and “Phase 2” play. These are multiple-flight events which are played as best-stack-forward to Phase 2 from the multiple Day 1 flights. Players cannot buy directly into Phase 2, but must qualify through one of the Phase 1 flights.

Each single-state series is almost exclusively no-limit hold’em events encompassing various formats. Only two PLO tourneys break up the NLH run, though one of the PLO offerings is a $50,000-guaranteed, $1,000 -entry high roller on Saturday, September 24.

Early-bird registration offers value to entrants

One promotional twist added to the series is that all 26 NJSPC events will offer “early bird” registration, meaning that players who register before action gets underway with have the entry-fee portion of their buy-in – the “juice”, in poker vernacular – refunded to their accounts. For example, the New Jersey SPC’s opening event is a $35,000-guaranteed “Kickoff” NLH with a $500 total buy-in, of which $470 goes into the prize pool and the other is the administrative or entry fee that goes to the house. In this event, that $30 is returned to early-bird entrants within 24 hours of the event’s conclusion.

All three series' events offer re-entry, and the early-bird rebates do not apply to any re-entries. The series is open to all registered BetMGM online players, who must be at least age 21 and physically present in one of the three states to participate. Satellites to various SPC events begin on September 10.

The primary schedule of events for each of the three series are available at the BetMGM online poker site dedicated to each specific state.
