Atlantic City's Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa has confirmed the return of its Winter Poker Open in January 2024, announcing the first details for a 22-event festival that will offer $10 million in guaranteed prize money. Each of the 22 tourneys are designated as "main" events of various formats and buy-ins, which will be complemented by an additional 20 secondary events and live qualifiers.

The 2024 edition of this enduring series begins on January 1, 2024, and continues through January 26. The series is being powered by the Borgata's "online registration and qualification" partner, BetMGM Poker, which will also offering 2024 Borgata Winter Poker Open package qualifiers beginning in early December.

'Kick Off' event heads schedule

A Borgata Winter Poker Open staple returns to get the action started in the new year. That's the multi-flight "Kick Off" event, with an $800 buy-in and a $2,000,000 prize-pool guarantee. The series-opening Kick Off dominates the first week's action, while another major multi-flight offering, the $500 Almighty Million Event, with a $1,000,000 guarantee, leads off Week 2.

A new themed grouping of events dominates Week 3 action, in the newly-dubbed Mystery & Mix Week. The “Half-a-Milly” Mystery Bounty returns from the 2023 Winter Poker Open, and this time it includes a $2,200 buy-in, a guaranteed $2,000,000 prize pool, and a top mystery bounty of $500,000. The remainder of Mystery & Mix Week focuses on events other than no-limit hold'em, including an Omaha high-low event, a H.O.S.E. tourney, and a $1,100 PLO Championship with a $100,000 prize-pool guarantee.

That leaves the final days of the 2024 Borgata Winter Poker Open for the series' Championship events, headlined by the official 2024 Winter Poker Open Championship, a five-day No Limit Hold’Em event with a $5,300 buy-in and a $3,000,000 guarantee. Other "championship" events will run through the series' final days as well.

“Borgata is the premier gaming destination on the East Coast, and that includes our world-class poker tournaments,” said the Borgata's Director of Poker Operations Kellie DeCelis. “After the success of last year’s [series], ‘ The Return,’ we’re excited to offer a Poker Open series and provide so many options for Championship poker at Borgata once again.”

Full slate of online qualifiers and packages on BetMGM Poker

The weekly online Borgata Winter Poker Open packages being offered on BetMGM Poker headline an even larger menu of qualifying options. The Winter Open Packages are deluxe prizes that include entries to multiple tournament events, a Borgata hotel stay, and other travel benefits.

Besides those weekly package-awarding events, BetMGM Poker will also offer nightly seat-only qualifiers to several live-series events, including the Kick Off, Almighty Million, Mystery Bounty, and Championship tournaments. Online qualifiers begin for as little as $2.

“BetMGM Poker is looking forward to collaborating with Borgata on another thrilling omni-channel event,” said Luke Staudenmaier, Director of Poker, BetMGM. “With online qualifiers as low as $2, we are expecting new and seasoned players alike to get in on the action.”
