The English pugilist started making his way into poker a few years ago

David Versus Goliath is a new documentary showcased in Amazon Prime video in which the former boxing world champion, David Haye, takes poker enthusiasts through his journey of going from beginner to contender. His love of poker started back in 2018 when he signed a partnership deal with an online poker site so he could learn the game's basics, which resulted in Hayes finding a new passion for the game that continues strong through today. The documentary will be available via Amazon Prime as of April 17.

One of the main focuses of the documentary shows Haye going through ups and downs while being a competitive player in Grosvenor’s Goliath tournament. Based on the trailer of this new show, Haye is supported by Team Grosvenor pros, including Jeff Kimber and Joe Beevers. Also, Haye can be seen joining former boxes Audrey Harrison in the Philippines, the country in which he cashed out from a tournament for the first time.

During the documentary, there are some inevitable comparisons between Haye’s sports background and poker. He talks at the very beginning of the struggle he went through after retiring from boxing and how poker has since then filled the void he felt. As a very competitive person, poker became an outlet for him. "Without a doubt, my success in the ring helped when taking on this challenge. As a fighter, I had to have a tunnel vision approach. It was always – will this help me become a heavyweight champion of the world? – if the answer were yes, it would happen; if not I would pass. It was the same ahead of Goliath," Haye said in a special Q&A.
