The Pot-Limit Omaha challenge finds Galfond’s challenger getting back-to-back victories

Just as it was expected among poker fans, the latest contender of the Galfond Challenge is giving the most exciting battle. While he adjusts to veteran Bill Perkins’ (Galfond’s second challenger) schedules so they can play more sessions, Galfond started a new challenge against his next opponent in line, ActionFreak. Galfond has been rocking his own challenge after a miraculous win against his first online opponent a few weeks ago, but ActionFreak displayed great skills during the last two sessions. The first 2,731 hands played leaned the scale towards Galfond and gave him an incredible advantage of nearly $443,230, but ActionFreak focused during the last two sessions to cut that difference short more than half.

The challenge was set to play 15,000 hands of Pot-Limit Omaha in $162/$324 stakes to be played at Galfond's online poker site. Due to a technical problem transferring funds, the last two days of the session took place at another poker site selected by ActionFreak, which must have been the motivation he needed. He dominated the fifth session against Galfond and finished with a $103,042, reducing his deficit by $347,155.

Greece-based ActionFreak made an even better comeback in the next day's session. He closed the day with a $172,968 win, so the difference was impressively cut by more than half to $172,968. While still a pretty steep amount, it is far better from the deficit ActionFreak overcame the last two days of sessions.

Galfond has taken a day off from the challenge to participate in a highly anticipated mini challenge for 750 hands at $119/$238 stakes. He is challenging the legendary online pro player Dan “Jungleman” Cates, and the loser will pay off the bet by creating a video praising the winner for being best at playing poker.
