Pennsylvania online series to award $1.5 million guaranteed over two-weeks

PokerStars PA released the full schedule for its upcoming Pennsylvania Championship of Online Poker, and Pennsylvania players have plenty of guaranteed prize money to compete for over the 17-day schedule.

The PACOOP series runs Sept. 19-Oct. 5, with $1.5 million guaranteed across the 50-event schedule. The centerpiece tournament of the PACOOP series comes in the form of the $200,000 guaranteed Main Event, a $300 buy-in tournament that begins Oct. 4.

Tournaments on the PACOOP slate offer buy-ins ranging from $20 up to $500. The $200,000 guarantee in the Main Event represents the largest prize pool of the series, with two other events also offering six-figure guarantees.

The PACOOP kicks off Sept. 19 with the $100 Nightly Stars PACOOP Warm-Up ($50,000 guaranteed) and $50 PACOOP 8-Max Warm-Up ($30,000 guaranteed).

Another record-breaking series for PokerStars PA?

The biannual Championship of Online Poker Series appears on the international PokerStars client, as well as the in-state PokerStars networks offered in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. Those networks aren't linked to the international PokerStars platform, making the Pennsylvania and New Jersey versions of the Championship of Online Poker in-state-only online series.

PokerStars PA launched in November 2019 in the Keystone State. The PA Spring Championship of Online Poker (PASCOOP) ran in April, bringing Pennsylvania players their own version of one of the longest-running online tournament series in the world.

The 2020 PASCOOP began April 4, just weeks following the shutdowns of live poker rooms across Pennsylvania due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Those conditions led to a massive turnout for the PASCOOP, as PokerStars PA set an all-time monthly revenue record for regulated poker sites in the U.S.

PokerStars PA brought in more than $5.25 million in April, thanks to the success of the PASCOOP series. Online poker in Pennsylvania continues to post strong revenue numbers, with PokerStars PA functioning as the only regulated online poker platform in the state.

The 2020 PASCOOP guaranteed $2 million across 96 tournaments, and the total prize pools for the series went well over that mark, finishing at over $3.1 million. Live poker rooms in Pennsylvania remain shut down as of mid-September, and the upcoming PACOOP series will likely draw big numbers as well.

Notable events on the PACOOP calendar

In typical Championship of Online Poker fashion, the 2020 PACOOP features several poker variants on the 50-tournament schedule. PACOOP-05: $150 Progressive KO ($30,000 guaranteed) kicks off Sept. 20 and plays as the first of eight PKO tournaments in the series.

Other non-Texas Hold'em events include five Pot-Limit Omaha tournaments, with the biggest guarantee of those PLO events coming in PACOOP-30: $500 PLO High Roller ($25,000 guaranteed). The PLO High Roller kicks off Sept. 28.

Five-Card Draw, 8-Game Mix, Omaha 8, Stud Hi/Lo, and Limit Hold'em also find spots on the PACOOP schedule.

In addition to the $200,000 guaranteed Main Event, other six-figure guarantees are offered in PACOOP-6: $100 Sunday Special ($100,000 guaranteed) on Sept. 20, and PACOOP-26: $100 Sunday Special ($100,000 guaranteed) on Sept. 27. PACOOP-43: $300 Main Event begins Sunday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. local time.

The 2020 PACOOP wraps up with a trio of events on Monday, Oct. 5, including PACOOP-48: $100 Nightly Stars Wrap-Up ($35,000 guaranteed).
