Shortly after GGPoker erased references to Dan Bilzerian from their site — then noisily announced that he was still on the payroll — the company has announced a new sponsorship deal. This time the deal is with Triton Poker, a far less controversial partner than Blitz.

Under the new deal, GGPoker will be slapping their logos on tables and coverage of the Triton Poker Cyprus Special Edition series of tournaments.

As with previous Cypriot outings for Triton, this event will be held at the Merit Hotel and Casino in North Cyprus. The series will run from April 2 -7, 2022. The series will overlap with the Super High Roller Bowl Europe running at the same location from April 7 – 15.

Triton Poker tweeted about the event: “Triton Poker Cyprus Special Edition Kicks Off at the Super High Roller Series Europe this April. Catch us live from the stunning Merit Royal Hotel & Casino from April 2 – 7, 2022.”

The GGPoker and Triton deal

John Scanlon, who serves as the Director of Sponsorships and Live Events at GGPoker, told the press that “since its inception, the Triton Series has striven to bring live poker to the next level.”

Andy Wong, the CEO of Triton Poker Series, reciprocated the compliment.

“We are thrilled to welcome GGPoker as our premier partner this season,” Wong said. “GGPoker brings a wealth of experience within the online gaming industry and is renowned for being at the forefront of developing innovative games and features. Significant live coverage has always been the cornerstone of our business, and this partnership will further enhance the thrills and spills our fans have come to enjoy at our exclusive events.”

Scanlon added, “It’s not just about the size of the buy-ins or the big-name players, but the quality of production and level of engagement Triton receives from the poker community. This partnership is the perfect synergy between two brands aligned with a common goal to bring poker to the masses through premium product offerings.”

Over the course of those six days, the Merit will play host to five high roller events, the smallest of which will be a $50,000 buy-in no limit hold’em 6-max event. The biggest of these events will be a $125,000 short deck event.

This is a Triton Super High Roller, so short deck and no limit hold’em are the headliner acts (and most of the supporting acts too).

The Merit has become a regular of the high roller circuit having hosted Super High Roller Bowl Europe late last summer. That series saw Tony G come back to poker and win two events.

Triton’s got a high bar to reach this April. If nothing else, it will certainly help to pass the time until the 2022 WSOP.
