Peiyan ‘fish3098’ Sun tells PokerNews he won’t go to King’s Casino due to the COVID-19 pandemic
The final table of the GGPoker 2020 World Series of Poker Main Event is already down to eight players.
The scheduled nine-handed final table at King’s Casino in Rozvadov, Czech Republic, will play out with at least one player missing from the field. As reported by PokerNews, China-based player Peiyan ‘fish3098’ Sun won’t make the trip to play among the final nine.
Sun advanced to the final table on the GGPoker side of the 2020 WSOP Main Event with 2,185,676 chips. That stack represents just under 11 big blinds, as the tournament paused with the blinds at 100,000/200,000/20,000.
Per the rules of this year’s unprecedented Main Event, Sun gets paid as the ninth-place finisher. He’ll earn $75,360 for his Main Event final table appearance.
Sun told PokerNews that he regrets not having the chance to win the tournament, but also that traveling to the Czech Republic isn’t an option amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

Eight remaining players to battle for GGPoker WSOP Main Event championship
The 2020 World Series of Poker $10,000 No Limit Hold’em Championship generally stands as the centerpiece of the annual WSOP live tournament festival. The WSOP’s status as the world’s biggest and most prestigious live poker tournament series makes the WSOP Main Event the most coveted poker championship on the calendar.
This year’s World Series of Poker was forced to postpone in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. In lieu of the scheduled live event, GGPoker and WSOP.com are collaborating to present the 2020 Main Event in an unprecedented format.
Players outside of the U.S. had the opportunity to play the 2020 Main Event online at GGPoker, with 674 players entering the freezeout tournament.

The field trimmed down to the final nine on Dec. 7, and the final table participants are scheduled to resume the event as a live tournament.
The live portion of the GGPoker Main Event will run at King’s Casino on Dec. 16. Brazil’s Bruno Botteon leads the final table with more than 10 million chips.
Manuel ‘robocup’ Ruivo of Portugal and Argentina poker legend Damian Salas stand in close contention for the GGPoker Main Event title as well.
The winner from the King’s Casino final table is scheduled to travel to Las Vegas to take on the winner from the U.S. side of the Main Event. That heads-up matchup, slated for Dec. 30, will award $1 million to the winner, on top of prize money already earned.
